The City of Thessaloniki is a melting point of many accident and the occident influences. It´s the secound largest city of Greece with one Million inhabitans. Since 500 BC it holds a constant flow of civilisation, maybe because of its opportune location in a savely bay, the Thermaic Gulf of the north Aegean sea. Thessaloniki was the home of the Hellenists, the Romans, the Normans, the Jews and the Muslims. After nearly 500 years of Ottoman rule it became part of the greek kingdom again in 1912. A walk through the city is like viewing a book with Museums, Historical Places, Monuments, Galleries, Restaurants and Kafenions. A magical touch combined with the special greek flair in the relaxed art of living, even it is a metropolitian city. Every step in the upper town (Ano Poli) gives you a save and calm feeling. Wherever you are, you can always look down to the very wide and long seafront.
